Only $1099 with basic configuration, including shipping. As I did my research, the Area-51 m5550 laptop is the only cheap gaming laptop on the market (at least I haven't found any other yet) that comes with a discrete (or dedicated) graphics card for only close to $1000. This must be a real bargain as it comes to cheap gaming laptops. For the above price, the Alienware Area-51 m5550 is equipped with the 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphic card, 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM memory, 80GB Serial ATA 5400 RPM hard drive and is running on Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5500 1.66GHz (2MB Cache 667MHz FSB).

    Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2

This new Inspiron is one of the best looking notebook I have ever lay eyes on. It feature a cool black and chrome paint scheme for a really industrial and futuristic look. To add some bling bling, Dell lit up the XPS with adjustable color neon lights. Believe me, this notebook will not go unnoticed a LAN party - or a media room for that matter. I took the XPS Gen 2 with me to E3 and the reporters at the media room went nuts. Screams of "Holy ****! What is that?" and "That's a Dell???" were the most common questions.

The Inspiron XPS Gen 2 is a big notebook that will never be mistaken for a ultra-portable. The Gen 2 offers a full 16:10 ratio 17 inch wide screen display with a sky high 1920x1200 resolution. The unit weigh 9.5 pounds, which is heavy but is really lighter than most of the other big 17" gaming laptops.

Unlike other gaming laptop, which use desktop Pentium 4 processors, the Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2 uses a Centrino processor running at 2.0GHz. The advantage of the Centrino is longer battery life and lower cooling requirement - hence the relatively slim profile of the XPS when compared laptops powered by desktop CPUs.

    Alienwire Area-51 m15x

The 15.4-inch wide-screen LCD display offers a 1,920x1,200 native resolution, something that is found in the highest-end 17-inch systems (most 15-inch laptops have 1,280x800 resolutions). A real treat to the eyes for watching Blu-ray movies via the optional Blu-ray optical drive, as well as for cranking games up to the highest resolution possible. Text can look tiny at such high resolutions on a 15-inch screen, but never mind.
Here are the main technical features:

    Processor: 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme X9000
    Memory: 4GB DDR2
Storage: 200GB hard drive; 320GB removable hard drive
    Optical Drives: Blu-ray burner/DVD±RW
    Display: 15.4-inch TFT
    24e1 Graphics: nVidia GeForce 8800M GTX (512MB)
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium

To talk about the few issues, the laptop has a bland, flimsy case design with some awkward touch controls/mouse. Also, some reports have come from users saying that the laptop gets overheated quickly. So, make sure you get to thoroughly check the downside before fishing out your money for the best gaming laptop.
